The initial process of wastewater treatment incorporates sedimentation, aeration and filtration. The deposition of solid waste is done during sedimentation process. In the aeration process, oxygen content is increased by mixing the waste with oxygen generated in aeration tanks. Now comes the third and last process of sewage treatment is disinfection wherein the sewage is cleaned by removing toxicity so that it turns out to be fit and potable. Wastewater treatment is aimed to protect the human population and environment. These plants are located close to densely populated urban areas. Dilution of degradable organics in wastewater is unsafe to river, streams, lakes and oceans. Many solid and harmful chemicals are present in the wastewater like nitrogen, bacteria and phosphates which can contaminate the environment badly.
